Working together for Workstations on Wheels

Mobile workstation demo day team2

A mobile workstation product demonstration day at HealthShare Victoria’s (HSV’s) Lonsdale Street office on Wednesday 14 September was the first in-person demonstration to be hosted by HSV since the start of the pandemic.

The demonstration day was coordinated by HSV Head of Sourcing – IT John McKinlay and representatives from across HSV including workplace health and safetyprocurement and clinical specialists, and attended by HSV Chief Executive Neil Rodaway between other onsite meetings.

A total of 15 suppliers and 19 health service representatives attended the event.

“It was great to see the suppliers take up the opportunity to bring their products along for assessment and we were really pleased with the participation by health services,” says John.

Demonstrations like these allow health service representatives to evaluate the products and components for infection control, occupational health and safety, IT infrastructure compatibility and other important considerations.

Productare being assessed for inclusion in HSV’s statewide panel and it’s crucial these important assets are fit for purpose,” he says.

Mobile workstations are often referred to as Workstations on Wheels (WOWs) and are used by clinicians to record patient information and provide enhanced bedside care.

Each workstation has up to 16 components, including trolleys, computers, monitors, thermal printers, barcode scanners and software, and each health service can have different considerations and preferences.

Suppliers who responded to HSV’s Invitation to Supply (ITS) Mobile Workstations and Association Equipment were invited to participate in the demonstration day.

After leading the evaluation process, HSV will negotiate pricing and appoint a final panel of suppliers for health services to choose from, saving them time and delivering better value for money.
