HSV customer site visits continue ahead of FY25 consolidation plan

Eastern Health visit final2

HSV site visits to the Eastern Health Distribution Centre and Box Hill Hospital have provided valuable insights into the health service’s requirements and challenges.

HSV’s Logistics, Data and Customer Engagement teams met with Eastern Health management and toured the warehouse, which operates a 24-hour service to seven main campuses and 200 delivery points including wards, operating theatres, emergency departments and intensive care units.

Eastern Health Executive Director Finance and Procurement Geoff Cutter said the visit was a valuable opportunity to discuss procurement challenges and show the team Eastern Health’s warehouse operations.

“We will continue to work together with a focus on delivering positive outcomes and maintaining high standards of patient care,” he said.

The group also visited Box Hill Hospital where they followed the product delivery journey from loading dock to the wards, including a tour of the clinical storage area to get an understanding of how imprest stock is managed.

HSV’s General Manager Supply Chain Optimisation Alan Booth says the visit gave HSV insights into the challenges Eastern Health is facing in terms of space and supply chains.

“They are dealing with a high volume of suppliers which presents challenges in an era of post-pandemic supply chain constraints.

“We’re looking forward to continuing our engagement and building on what have been very positive initial consultations,” he says.

“Eastern Health will be a priority for us in the next financial year.”

Geoff said his team was proud that despite the global supply chain issues experienced during and since the pandemic, Eastern Health has been successful in maintaining sufficient supplies for clinical services.

“It’s a priority for Eastern Health to never run out of stock and to ensure we have alternatives available for the needs of every one of our stock delivery points,” he said.

During the pandemic Eastern Health converted an underground car park into a warehouse to store additional stock.
