Vital medical supplies donated to Ukrainian aid effort

Thanks to the collaborative efforts of Victorian health services and HSV’s logistics and customer engagement teams, 27 pallets of medical supplies and consumables are on their way to Ukraine.

HSV recently coordinated the donations from various health services across Victoria to support the Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations (AFUO). The donated supplies will aid the people of Ukraine who have had their lives upturned by conflict.

Hospitals and health services responded to the callout with donations of medical supplies, some of which were personally collected by HSV employees, including our Customer Relationship Managers (CRMs) for delivery to the Derrimut DC.

HSV’s Logistics team assisted with storage and used their broad network of contacts to organise delivery of boxes from as far away as northern Victoria to assist the effort. The response was higher than anticipated with donations received from five Victorian health services. As a result, 27 pallets were collected by the Australian Defence Force for dispatch to Ukraine.

AFUO Ukraine Aid Coordinator Teresa Lachowicz has written to HSV to express her thanks for the team’s efforts in coordinating donations.

“Thanks to all the warehouse staff who were so generous with their time and assistance and so patient,” Teresa said.

“It is truly heartening to see the support coming from Australian organisations, including HealthShare Victoria, at this tumultuous time for Ukraine. Your words of support buoy our efforts and we will be forever grateful.”

HSV Chief Executive Neil Rodaway says the outcome would not have been possible without the generosity and support of Victorian health services.

“I want to thank everyone involved who went out of their way to support this humanitarian effort.”

It demonstrates how much we can achieve when we work together to get behind an important cause.

He also expressed his thanks to the Logistics and CRM teams for their work and support to help people in need.
