Smooth transition for first supply chain customers

Smooth transition for first supply chain customers2

Since HealthShare Victoria (HSV) assumed direct responsibility for supply chain operations in June, it has been business as usual for our first group of customers, including the Royal Melbourne Hospital, the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, the Royal Children’s Hospital, the Royal Women’s Hospital, the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, Western Health and Northern Health.

These first health services to receive HSV supply chain services – and who collectively order approximately 30 per cent of the health-related goods required by public hospitals in Victoria – have experienced minimal or no change in their day-to-day operations thanks to the ongoing operations of the team at HSV’s Tullamarine distribution centre (DC).

HSV will extend its supply chain service under relevant models to other metropolitan, regional and rural health services statewide over the coming years.

While now part of HSV, the operation at Tullamarine continues to be operated under the Melbourne Health Logistics (MHL) system, which places orders with suppliers for around 80,000 stock and non-stock SKUs for the Royal Melbourne Hospital group of health services.

HSV’s facility in Derrimut will ultimately take over from Tullamarine as HSV’s primary DC. Bulk stock items have been sourced and stocked at the Derrimut DC in preparation for the transition of operations to the new site.

For now, HSV is procuring only a small proportion of products on collective agreements for the Royal Melbourne Hospital precinct partner health services.

For suppliers who have not yet set up HSV as an account, account set-up details are available on our website. In particular, suppliers currently providing stocked items, non-stock or both to MHL are being asked to set up an HSV account if they haven’t already done so in preparation for the operational transition to the Derrimut DC.

HSV will continue to communicate important information and updates and suppliers are urged to keep their profile and contact details up-to-date in the procurement portal via the HSV website.
