Procurement recruitment drive to boost service provision

Procurement recruitment8

Last financial year, HSV’s business-as-usual procurement provided measurable benefits for Victoria’s public hospitals and their patients, delivering over $158 million in total benefits.

Activities undertaken in working with our health service customers on HSV agreements included:

  • forty-five unique procurement activities, including three additional greenfield categories under management
  • thirty extensions, options and price reviews of HSV contracts to ensure ongoing supply for health services to help maintain operations during the pandemic period
  • twenty-seven activities where HSV provided procurement support to health service equipment buying teams
  • ongoing procurement of essential PPE and medical devices for the State Supply Chain
  • a collaborative sourcing activity providing corporate uniforms for a group of eight Loddon Mallee health services, which reduced health service effort and improved service delivery.

HSV is building on our 2021-22 achievement of revamping the Procurement Activity Plan (PAP) to provide a more transparent and consultative approach to activity planning with a new effort to increase capacity across the procurement function.

The procurement recruitment drive will see 24 roles being filled.

“The roles we are now recruiting for include an acting Head of Sourcing and senior category managers, category managers and analysts, and will be spread across the entire procurement team,” says Director Procurement Stuart Smith.

“They will enable us to add more procurement activities to the FY23 PAP and accelerate solutions to benefit our customers.”

A major focus of the recruitment activity is a new Supplier Relationship Management team. This team will support HSV Procurement to become more strategic in delivering end-to-end solutions and ensuring the performance of those contracted services and products for our health service customers.

“We are really excited to be building this capability from scratch for HSV, and those recruited into the team will be integral to the successful design and implementation of this new supplier relationship management function,” Stuart says.

“The year ahead has many challenges and opportunities for procurement. The key to our success will be the team we have in place around us, which starts with recruiting great people with great experience and great ideas to offer.”

HSV’s recruitment drive commences in August 2022 with roles to be advertised at https://healthsharevic.org.au/about-us/careers/current-vacancies/.
