HSV supply chain operations set to move to bigger Derrimut site
HSV’s supply chain operations continue to run smoothly from HSV’s Tullamarine Distribution Centre (DC) for our Royal Melbourne Hospital shared services partners.
Key points
- HSV’s supply chain operations move from the Tullamarine DC to our new, much larger site in Derrimut in mid-December.
- The planned launch of the new ordering and warehouse systems has been delayed.
- HSV will refocus on delivering the system as soon as possible, without creating significant upheaval for our health service customers
The next phase of our operations will see our supply chain operations move from the Tullamarine DC to our new, much larger site in Derrimut in mid-December.
“While the transfer of our operations to Derrimut will go ahead in December, the planned launch of the new ordering and warehouse systems has been delayed,” says HSV Chief Executive Neil Rodaway.
This work involves implementing an Oracle Financial Management Information System (FMIS) and Oracle Warehouse Management System (WMS), originally planned to go live on 16 December 2021. Health Technology Solutions (HTS) system upgrade issues have meant that the system is unavailable as required, delaying essential project and change management requirements.
“Despite the delay, significant work continues behind the scenes to establish our new ordering system and ensure health services don’t notice any change in how they receive essential medical consumable items,” he says.
Discovery workshops held in July and August and attended by representatives from regional, rural and metropolitan health services identified expanded system solution design improvements, with key additional functions being implemented.
They include:
- electronic data interchange (EDI) to make transactions faster and more accurate
- enhanced returns and recall management to streamline these processes for health services.
Solution design and implementation of these additional functions is well advanced, with relevant stakeholder sign-offs occurring to schedule.
“The earlier we can engage and scale up our supply chain operations to support a wider roll-out, the earlier we can deliver savings and benefits to public health services,” Neil says.
“The delayed go-live is disappointing however we will reset and refocus on delivering the system as soon as possible, without creating significant upheaval for our health service customers. Once implemented, we can then start to focus on scaling up our services with more specific deliverables,” he says.
