HSV logistics activities ramp up following successful SSC transition

Since assuming responsibility for the purchasing and distribution of State Supply Chain (SSC) products on Monday 5 June 2023, HealthShare Victoria’s (HSV’s) supply chain activities have increased dramatically.

Following many months of working closely with former SSC supply and logistics lead Monash Health, as well as health services customers and the Department of Health, HSV executed a smooth transition to go live on 5 June.

In the lead-up to the transition, we were guided by our HSV value of ‘customer-centric’ and did our best to minimise any impacts on health services.

“We conducted extensive end-to-end testing of our ordering, finance and reporting systems to ensure SSC customers would experience no supply disruption of essential medical supplies,” says HSV’s Executive Director Supply Chain Mili Cohen.

“As to be expected with a transition of this magnitude, we had a few minor teething issues after the SSC was cut over to HSV, but we were able to resolve these swiftly.”

In the two weeks since SSC operations began at the HSV Distribution Centre, HSV fulfilled 636 purchase orders, delivering almost 39,000 cartons to 59 health services.

“We have grown from delivering to seven health services to now supplying to more than 70 entities, and from operating one distribution centre to managing two DCs and 11 further sites through third-party logistics providers,” says Mili.

“With the smooth transition under our belt, we now look forward to enhancing the efficiency, consistency and reliability of the services we provide through the consolidation of Victoria’s public health sector supply chains,” Mili says.
