Access to HSV contracts supports specialist health service’s growth
Specialist state-funded health services are benefiting by gaining access to HSV’s collective agreements as eligible services.
Orygen, a mental health services provider for young people and world-leader in research-based treatment programs, has grown rapidly since its establishment and now employs more than 400 staff.
As an eligible service, Orygen was able to join contracts for SAP SuccessFactors, a human resources cloud-based information system, and benefit from a significant discount.
Orygen People and Culture Transformation Project Manager Natalie Wieland said the new HR system was needed to support the organisation’s rapid growth, as recommendations from the Royal Commission into Victoria’s mental health system are implemented.
“With clinical staff from the Royal Melbourne Hospital transitioning over to Orygen as part of those reforms, our organisation is effectively doubling in size,” Natalie says.
“The opportunity to have a HR system that’s fit for purpose means we can deal with the complexities that come with that growth. It also mitigates risk because everything is automated.”
Orygen Chief Financial Officer Chrissy McCallum says there was much to be gained from partnering with HSV.
“While it’s great to access large discounts, there are many levels of support we can benefit from including contracts for casual agency staff, medical supplies and electricity.
“If we had to source all of that ourselves and do our own investigation it would require significant resources,” Chrissy says.
“We also appreciate the collaborative relationships with HSV, and the expertise and market analysis they have provided.”
Supporters of Orygen, including representatives from HSV, helped to celebrate the organisation’s 30-year anniversary at an event last month.
Several hundred attendees gathered at Orygen’s Parkville headquarters, including Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan to acknowledge the landmark event.
At the 30th anniversary celebration, Premier Allan said that over the past three decades, Orygen had lived up to its mantra of revolutionising youth mental health and ensuring that young people are not only supported, but supported to flourish.
“Orygen has translated knowledge and skills into a better mental healthcare system for children and young people around the world,” Premier Allan said.
