A consistent approach for Environmental, Social and Governance Policy

windfarm in Vic

HSV’s Board has recently approved a new Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Policy as a first step towards a more open and transparent focus that sets out how HSV can support a strong and sustainable approach to ESG reporting.

In the coming months HSV will develop an ESG baseline which will help us prepare for future reporting. Over the next five years, HSV will report on progress against core ESG indicators and investigate ways to provide appropriate leadership in relevant ESG areas.

While HSV already includes ESG criteria in our annual reporting, this is the first time a consistent approach under an ESG banner has been adopted.

ESG concepts are already present in of the following HSV initiatives:

  • HSV’s BeSafe strategy: We support safe work and clearly communicate expectations. Employees are trained to perform their work safely, and everyone is encouraged to take ownership for health and safety.
  • Wellbeing: We care for the mental and physical health of everyone at HSV and we urge everyone to ‘Speak Up’ if they think something is unsafe.
  • Environment: We are assessing how our organisation performs as a steward of the natural environment, including on energy use, waste management and renewable energy investment.
  • Social: We consider how we treat our people and the wider community through our business relationships, supply chains and through safe and diverse working environments.
  • Governance: We hold ourselves accountable through our accounting methods and sustainability strategies, conflicts of interest and the diversity of our board appointments.
