Product tracking

When a supplier delivers to a site within HSV’s supply chain network, that is the location to which the supplier tracks the item.

Suppliers are responsible for tracking individual products or batches of products to their delivery to the HSV distribution network.

HSV will track stock items that have not yet been distributed, and then partner health services are responsible for tracking products that have been distributed to their site/s.

Product recalls

We carries out the process and action of recalls of goods and medical consumables serviced by the HealthShare Victoria supply chain in accordance with the guidelines established by the appropriate industry regulator.

HSV is not able to track goods that are not held in the HSV supply chain network, or goods once they have been delivered directly to health services. Health services will maintain responsibility for product recall requirements once they take delivery of the stock.

GS1 Recall and Recall Health systems

GS1 Australia provides two real-time product recall and withdrawal notification systems, Recall and Recall Health. Each systems manages recalls and withdrawals for different types of products:

• Recall: food, beverage and retail products.
• Recall Health: therapeutic goods.

Suppliers create notifications in the relevant system within the parameters required by the appropriate industry regulator. Suppliers can also submit recall notifications directly to the relevant regulator for review and approval. The regulars are:

• Recall: Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) and the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).
• Recall Health: The Therapeutic Goods Administration's (TGA) Uniform Recall Procedure for Therapeutic Goods (URPTG) guidelines.

Therapeutic product recalls are critical and must follow the Uniform Recall Procedure for Therapeutic Goods 2022 (URPTG) guidelines. Communicating recall information quickly and accurately can save lives.

Recall and Recall Health streamline and improve the timeliness of information sharing, which ultimately improve ensure patient safety.
