Middle East conflict supply update - 20 April

Supplier fuel cost requests

We have continued to receive requests for temporary price increases from HSV-contracted suppliers, largely in relation to increased fuel costs. We are reviewing requests that have been supported by comprehensive and verifiable evidence. We still have not approved any price increases or fuel surcharges at this stage.

Surety of supply

We have progressed our review of the critical supply register (CSR) and we will be meeting this week with the Department of Health (DH) Chief Officers in Medical, Nurse and Midwifery, Mental Health and Wellbeing, and Allied for their input.
We continue to collaborate with partners including Safer Care Victoria, DH and the TGA (Medicine Availability Working Group and Medical Device Shortage Group) to monitor supply issues. We are consistently hearing that there are no immediate supply concerns.

Fuel supply

We are still monitoring the liquid fuel situation and working closely with other agencies including DH and the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA). A health services protection plan is currently being developed, with HSV involvement.

You can read DH’s latest liquid fuel supply update here. Any health service queries about fuel should be directed to DH’s Health System Incident Management inbox at hsim@health.vic.gov.au.

HSV distribution centres

Our Derrimut and Dandenong South distribution centres are operating as normal; we will keep our Logistics customers informed if this situation changes.

Next steps

A reminder that if you receive any supplier communication regarding contract variations (supply or pricing) in relation to the Middle East conflict – whether they are HSV contracts or not – please let us know as soon as possible by forwarding any correspondence to the HSV Helpdesk: helpdesk@healthsharevic.org.au.

If you have any issues with supply or require support, please also contact Helpdesk.

We will continue to monitor developments with our suppliers and provide updates as the supply outlook changes.
