Middle East conflict supply update - 8 May

Price rise requests

So far we have received a small number requests from HSV-contracted suppliers in relation to temporary product price increases. We are still reviewing the requests and have not approved any increases at this stage.

If you receive any supplier communication about contract pricing variations arising from the Middle East conflict – whether they are HSV contracts or not – please let us know as soon as possible by forwarding any correspondence to the HSV Helpdesk: helpdesk@healthsharevic.org.au.

Suppliers have been reminded they must not pass on any price increases on HSV-contracted items unless they have been approved by HSV.

Supplier fuel cost recovery

Last week we attended the Fair Work Commission’s information session on the road transport contractual chain order (RTCCO), which requires HSV and health services to review and adjust fuel rates each fortnight to allow suppliers to recover higher fuel costs and ensure the adjustment is passed through to road transport operators. These obligations apply across all contracts for the supply of goods and some contracts for services, such as waste management services.

We are working with the Department of Health’s Emergency Management branch on a systemised approach to support public health sector application of the order. We will provide more information once we have made progress on the approach.

Fuel supply

We continue to work with the Department of Health’s Coordination management team, which is planning for the state in relation to liquid fuel supply. There are no immediate concerns regarding fuel supply for health services.

Surety of supply

We are still hearing that there are no immediate supply concerns resulting from the Middle East conflict affecting the health sector. Any issues are being contained or managed.

If you become aware of any health sector product shortages, whether they are HSV-contracted products or not, please report the details via our Product supply alert form
