HSV is now part of the Department of Health

HSV has commenced the next phase of our operations as a new division within the Department of Health (DH), ensuring we are well equipped to support an evolving model of health service delivery.

Healthcare delivery across the state is shifting to a more networked approach, with Local Health Service Networks playing an increasingly important role in supporting local community, regional and statewide health service planning.

This reflects the broader view that effective healthcare needs coordination across the full spectrum of planning and service delivery, not just at a procurement level.

Bringing our functions into DH will enable procurement, planning and policy to be more integrated and aligned, while reducing duplication and strengthening system-wide coordination.

In working within DH, we will play an important role to help ensure Victoria's health system is well positioned to support a modern, networked health system.

While the transition will bring some changes, much will remain familiar. In line with our strategic goals, we will build on our strong reputation as a trusted business partner to Victoria's public health services. Our work to partner with Victoria's public hospitals, health services and suppliers to ensure the right products and services are delivered to the right place at the right time will continue.

Our Acting Chief Executive Lisa Williams has become HSV’s Acting Deputy Secretary and will continue in her role until the end of October, to lead and support HSV through this important change.
