Alfred Care Group visits Derrimut DC for supply chain insights

HealthShare Victoria (HSV) recently welcomed the Alfred Care Group (ACG) to tour the Derrimut Distribution Centre (DC) to experience the DC warehouse operations firsthand and gain greater insight into HSV’s supply chain capabilities.

ACG’s Head of Operations – Supply, Gordon Lang and Team Leader Christian Alvarez toured the facility in Melbourne’s west, offering the ACG team a closer look at the scale of the DC operations. 

Inviting health services to tour the HSV DCs allows representatives from both organisations to connect in-person and discuss opportunities to strengthen collaboration.

Accompanying Gordon and Christian throughout the tour were HSV’s General Manager – Logistics Operations Andrew Heggie, Head of Customer Solutions Santo Cavaleri, Head of Customer Operations Yvette Karslake and Derrimut DC Manager Johann Ferdinand.

“Christian and I enjoyed the visit to the Derrimut DC. The facility was very well organised, and it was impressive to see the available capacity within the operation,” Gordon says.

Inviting health services to the Derrimut DC gives our health service partners greater visibility into HSV’s supply chain operations and warehouse management systems (WMS), while providing insights into the logistics processes behind the delivery of supplies to health services. By seeing the warehouse operations firsthand, health service representatives can get the ‘bigger picture’ of the work HSV is doing to manage inventory for the sector and support customer requirements.

Site visits are also an opportunity for HSV to engage with and foster partnerships with its health service customers. 

“It was great to meet the team supporting our health service and gain a better understanding of the work they do every day,” Gordon says.

The visit highlights the value of HSV DC tours, enabling our health service customers to see the people, processes and systems in place to support their health service, and develop a stronger understanding of the operations behind the services they receive.
