Middle East conflict supply update - 24 April

Supplier fuel cost requests

We continue to receive requests for temporary price increases from HSV-contracted suppliers, largely in relation to increased fuel costs. We are working with Hospitals Victoria on an approach to track fuel and price increases relating to the current geopolitical instability. The preferred approach will be communicated shortly. We are still reviewing Supplier requests and have not approved any price increases or fuel surcharges at this stage.

Surety of supply

We are still hearing that there are no immediate supply concerns affecting the health sector.

We met with Department of Health’s (DH’s) chief health officers this week to progress the updated critical supply register (CSR). Our Clinical Product Advice and Pharmaceutical teams have reviewed and updated the list.

Next steps are for the chief health officers to begin engaging with health services to ensure the CSR is up to date and most relevant.

Fuel supply

We are still monitoring the liquid fuel situation and working closely with other agencies including DH and the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA). A health services protection plan is currently being developed, with HSV involvement.

Any health service queries about fuel should be directed to DH’s Health System Incident Management inbox at hsim@health.vic.gov.au.

There are no further updates to last week’s DH bulletin which you can read here: liquid fuel supply update

HSV distribution centres

Our Derrimut and Dandenong South distribution centres are operating as normal; we will keep our Logistics customers informed if this situation changes.

We are aware of the Fair Work Commission Order (RTCCO) regarding fuel cost recovery and are currently assessing its implications for health services and HSV’s logistics operations.

Please keep us informed

A reminder that if you receive any supplier communication regarding contract variations (supply or pricing) in relation to the current geopolitical conflict – whether they are HSV contracts or not – please let us know as soon as possible by forwarding any correspondence to the HSV Helpdesk: helpdesk@healthsharevic.org.au.

If you have any issues with supply or require support, please also contact the HSV Helpdesk.
