Middle East conflict supply update - 1 May

Supplier fuel cost recovery

We are aware of the Fair Work Commission’s road transport contractual chain order (RTCCO) regarding fuel cost recovery and are currently assessing its implications for health services and HSV’s logistics operations.

HSV’s Chief Executive, Susan Delroi, wrote to Secretary of the Department of Health and the Secretary of the Department of Treasury and Finance this week to seek their views on HSV’s role in implementing the RTCCO and their advice on initiatives to assist in reducing duplication and inconsistency across Victoria’s public health sector. We also wrote to health service CEOs, CPOs and CFOs this week and requested health services to await our advice as to a consistent sector-wide approach in relation to all suppliers before acting on the RTCCO.

HSV has representation at a Fair Work Commission meeting about the RTCCO today and we hope to provide you with more clarity about the order next week.

Fuel supply

HSV has representation on the Department of Health’s Coordination management team, which is planning for the state in relation to liquid fuel supply. We are contributing with a focus on keeping our distribution centres operational.

Surety of supply

We are still hearing that there are no immediate supply concerns affecting the health sector.

The Department of Health’s clinical chiefs are currently reviewing our updated critical supply register (CSR).

We have published a form on our website where health services and suppliers can log any information in relation to surety of supply. If you become aware of shortages in relation to any health sector products, whether they are HSV-contracted or not, please report the details via our Product supply alert form.

Price review request for gloves

An HSV-contracted glove supplier has written to HSV advising of a surcharge on nitrile gloves. We have requested more information from the supplier substantiating this surcharge. We have not agreed to the surcharge at this time and will provide an update once a decision has been made.

HSV distribution centres

Our Derrimut and Dandenong South distribution centres are operating as normal. We are working through the implications of the RTCCO.

Please keep us informed

If you receive any supplier communication regarding contract pricing variations in relation to the current geopolitical conflict – whether they are HSV contracts or not – please let us know as soon as possible by forwarding any correspondence to the HSV Helpdesk: helpdesk@healthsharevic.org.au. (Please submit supply surety issues to the Product supply alert form.)

If you have any issues with supply or require support, please also contact the HSV Helpdesk.
