Procurement Activity Plan refresh highlights cost reduction focus

HSV Casselden Environmental 6

More than 60 stakeholders from 42 health services attended an information session on HSV’s latest Procurement Activity Plan (PAP) refresh earlier in September.

With a stronger focus on cost reduction, the draft FY25:H2 PAP maps the next two years of procurement activity, covering the period from January 2025 to December 2026.

We refresh the HSV PAP every six months to ensure it remains up to date, alternating between holding an annual presentation with a feedback form to capture sector views, and a hands-on workshop early each calendar year. The next workshop is due to be held in February 2025.

HSV Deputy Director Procurement Sandra Ireland says cost reduction is front of mind for health services and HSV is working to extract as much value as possible from our collective agreements.

“The feedback we received in the workshops earlier this year was that health services want us to focus more on our existing contracts, and that’s what we are planning to do.”

“Our benefits target for this year is to look to deliver cost reduction of $17.6 million and we delivered more than $90 million in overall benefits to the sector last year.”

Upcoming new categories in FY25 include the $71 million Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) category, which combines several agreements under one overarching contract, and Cyber Security to support the Department’s cyber security team, the central body that provides guidance for the sector.

Feedback on the draft PAP was due by Thursday 26 September. HSV Customer Relationship Managers will have contacted health services directly to obtain feedback and recommendations from key contact people.

The Procurement team is now working through the feedback received to analyse and prioritise initiatives and compile the final PAP for publication in December 2024.

You can view the current PAP on the Procurement Activity Plan page on our website.
