HSV’s new Körber warehouse management system (WMS) is now operational at Derrimut distribution centre (DC).

The team at Derrimut began processing and dispatching orders on Monday 19 May as scheduled, after completing stocktake, data migration and product verification testing over the weekend.

As with any large implementation project we still have issues to resolve, but the system is functioning as expected, says Acting Chief Logistics Officer Alan Booth.

“It took a couple of days to work through the backlog following the stocktake on Friday 16 May.

We also had a few issues with documentation for cluster orders, which are currently being worked through.”

Alan says the team is already seeing improvements following go-live of the new system.

“Inbound is running more smoothly and on the picking side, errors have been reduced.”

During the first week the Derrimut DC team picked 17,775 lines, an average of 3,500 lines per day.

“We expect to see these numbers increase given progress was slower than normal during the first week,” Alan says.

“I’d like to thank all our customers for their continued patience and cooperation as we work through issues with orders.

All issues are being prioritised by the Logistics team with support from Körber staff who are onsite at Derrimut.”

The project team is also working towards its scheduled WMS go-live date of 10 June at Dandenong South DC.
