Information sessions available to support health services reporting requirements

Health services are invited to attend online information sessions available from next month, to support their compliance with HSV’s Purchasing Policies (HSV PPs).

The sessions are designed for health service employees working in approved purchasing units such as engineering, pharmaceutical and information technology, who may not be familiar with the policies and regulatory obligations.

The HSV PPs establish a framework that supports best-practice procurement by health services. All health services are required to complete a self-assessment of their compliance with the policies and report this in their annual report of operations to the Victorian Parliament.

What’s included in the online information sessions

The information sessions will cover:

  • HealthShare Victoria’s function and purpose
  • The HSV PPs
  • HSV Collective Agreements
  • Health services’ compliance obligations under the Health Services Act 1988 (Vic) and HSV PPs.

There are six training sessions available between August and November 2025, and you can register for one of these sessions on our website.

HSV Purchasing Policies online course

If you require more detailed background information on the policies, HSV also offers an online course which covers each of the five policies including governance, strategic analysis, market approach, contract management and asset disposal, and collective purchasing and supply chain.

The training helps health services with oversight of government spending, implementing probity strategy into internal procurement practices, simplifying processes and understanding value for money.

HSV Chief Financial Officer John Delinaoum says compliance with HSV’s policies ensures alignment with the Department of Health’s funding conditions.

“By adhering to the HSV PPs, health services are upholding public trust and demonstrating their commitment to the ethical stewardship of public resources. It provides reassurance that decisions are made in the public interest,” he says.

You can find further information on how to access the online course on our website.
