Gippsland working group goes behind the scenes at HSV’s Dandenong distribution centre

HealthShare Victoria’s Logistics team recently hosted the Gippsland supply managers working group on a tour of the Dandenong South distribution centre (DC).

The Gippsland supply managers working group was formed to drive regional collaboration through continuous improvement programs and provide a central point of support for collective activities that deliver key benefits across regional health services.

The committee consists of representatives from 10 Gippsland health services including Bairnsdale Regional Health Service, Bass Coast Health, Central Gippsland Heath Service, Gippsland Southern Health Service, Kooweerup Regional Health Service, Latrobe Regional Health, Omeo District Health, South Gippsland Hospital, West Gippsland Healthcare Group and Yarram and District Health Service.

Representatives of the working group toured the Dandenong South DC to gain firsthand insight into how a centralised supply model operates.

“We try to bring the working group together at least once a year at a location that’s of interest and value to everyone,” says HSV Senior Customer Relationship Manager Emma Hammond.

“It’s also a great opportunity for them to share ideas and discuss what’s working well for them.”

HSV Distribution Centre Team Leader John MacDonald led the tour and welcomed the opportunity to host the working group and showcase the Dandenong South team’s efforts to drive efficiency and consistency across the site.

“The collaboration and shared insights from the visit will support stronger outcomes for both distribution centres moving forward,” says John.

“We’re excited to continue supporting Gippsland health services and onboarding more health services.”

Gippsland Southern Health Service Supply Manager Frank DeGennaro said operations at Dandenong South were impressive and well-executed.

“It’s a great facility and even though it’s still in its early stages, it will be an invaluable asset to its health service customers,” he said.

Bass Coast Health Supply Manager Gary Scholz said it was great to see the setup at the DC.

“The group discussion was fantastic and some of the ideas I came away with were very helpful,” he said.

The Dandenong South DC celebrated one year of operations in October 2025.
