Cleanaway Daniels EV truck unveiled

Cleanaway Daniels introduces first electric vehicle to its health services fleet

Members of HSV’s Procurement team visited the Cleanaway Daniels Dandenong site in early December to attend the unveiling of Cleanaway’s newest EV (electric vehicle) truck.

The truck is one of 4 EV trucks in the Cleanaway fleet – and the first EV truck Cleanaway will use to collect waste from Victorian health services. It uses 4 batteries – 2 on either side – supplying 265 kilowatts of power with a range of approximately 200 kilometres depending on driving characteristics.

“It was great to visit the Cleanaway site to welcome their new sustainability-friendly fleet vehicle,” says HSV Chief Procurement Officer Sarah Bryant.

“The Cleanaway team explained the EV truck’s features – such as the optional technology that allows the driver and fleet team to monitor the vehicle’s energy consumption and battery performance in real time and manage driver fatigue and distraction.

“It was exciting to be part of the drive towards greater environmental sustainability and safety in the sector,” Sarah says.

Regular visits to health services and suppliers such as Cleanaway Daniels have become an important part of the HSV Procurement team’s role – providing an in-person experience that allows for greater collaboration and engagement, while giving health services and suppliers the opportunity to ask HSV teams questions directly, aiding problem solving.

Ashley Green, Acting General Manager Health Services Cleanaway Daniels, welcomed the HSV team’s visit.

“Cleanaway is excited to have our new electric vehicle join our Health Services fleet. The vehicle will service our HSV customer base and we were pleased to welcome the HSV team to our site to see the truck and partner with us as we progress towards reaching our sustainability goals,” Ashley says.
