Additional compliance training sessions added for health services

After hosting a series of online training sessions on the HSV Purchasing Policies in late 2025, HSV’s Compliance team has added further training dates for health services in April and May 2026.

The HSV Purchasing Policies establish a framework that supports best practice in terms of appropriate governance, compliance and procurement probity, and achieving the best value in procurement.

More than 120 attendees from 32 health services attended the 2025 training, which covered health services’ responsibilities and obligations under HSV’s Purchasing Policies, together with information on exemptions, compliance and probity in procurement.

Attendees were appreciative of the guidance and support offered during the training.

Executive Director Finance and Corporate and Chief Financial Officer at South West Healthcare, Susan Walker attended one of the online training sessions.

“The Compliance training session was excellent. The information was clear and well presented. The case studies are great and really bring the implications home,” she said.

The training is for health service employees in engineering, pharmaceutical and information technology and procurement teams.

HSV Chief Financial Officer John Delinaoum says the one-hour online training sessions will help health services to comply with the Health Services Act 1988 (Vic) and the 5 HSV Purchasing Policies (HSV PPs).

“Whether you're directly managing procurement or occasionally involved in purchasing decisions, it's important to understand the HSV Purchasing Policies and the legal obligation that health services have to comply with them,” he says.

To book the training, please see available session times on the HSV website.

The training will cover:

  • HSV’s function and purpose
  • the HSV PPs
  • HSV Collective Agreements
  • health service compliance obligations under the Health Services Act 1988 (Vic) and HSV PPs.
